I’ve been looking up the latest papers on reelin, a protein that’s decreased in the brain in schizophrenia. I’ve been doing this now and then ever since I wrote the Reelin articles in the Russian and English Wikipedias. Here’s one latest paper, which got me curious because I had never heard of the HO-1 animal model of schizophrenia before. It would be interesting to read up on this model, but now I’ve got to run to my food delivery work.

 

It’s interesting whether there are ways to downregulate astrocytic HO-1 cascade, as the authors suggest: "These results suggest a novel mechanism for brain reelin depletion in schizophrenia. Containment of the astrocytic HO-1 cascade by pharmacological or other means may protect against stress-induced brain reelin depletion in schizophrenia"
